See how women across Kinross celebrated International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day on March 8th was celebrated in many different ways across Kinross’ global sites and offices.

In Magadan, women took part in a parade where they drove through the streets of Magadan in cars decorated with balloons and made an outdoor photo frame made entirely out of flowers.

In Paracatu, women at site heard a guest lecture about violence against women and received a tea set.

At the corporate office in Toronto, women received a rose and cupcake to mark the day.

Women at Las Palmas celebrated with a lunch and chocolates.

At La Coipa, women celebrated with balloons and shared the message ‘Mujeres Avanzando’ which means ‘Advancing Women’.

Gina Jardine, Senior Vice-President, Human Resources, sent a message of encouragement to women across the Company:

“International Women’s Day began in 1908 when 15,000 women marched throughout the streets of New York demanding shorter hours, better pay, and voting rights. Some women have achieved these goals, for others, the battle still goes on. Unfortunately, women in many parts of the world are fighting for something much larger than hours, pay, and wages – their battles are about basic human rights. So every year, and in particular since it was recognized by the United Nations in 1975, we have paused to reflect on and to celebrate the achievements of women everywhere on International Women’s Day on March 8.

“At Kinross, we are very fortunate to be part of a corporate family that genuinely cares about all our people, and in 2017 we plan to expand our focus on Diversity and Inclusion to continue to ensure that we embrace all the values that a diverse and inclusive workforce offers and to ensure that your workplace is one of the best places there is to work.”
